One Tree Hill's lead guitar player, Brian, recently sent the email below to us in the band. It's always a joy to hear about our ministry impact which goes mostly unspoken --
I went to the Atlanta Bread Company this afternoon for lunch. Right after I ordered, a very nice looking young man about 22 or 23 came up to me and asked if I played in a band... with a guy in a wheelchair. When I told him I did, he told me that he had just graduated from the Potter's House where he saw us play. He told me that we were one of the highlights of his stay there, and went on to tell me how much it meant for us to take our time and go up there and play for those guys. Unfortunately I didn't ask his name. Anyway, he told me he was working at the Kohl's across the parking lot from ABC. He has only been out a couple of weeks, but he told me he was doing great.
Sometimes we forget the fact that we touch and affect lives with our music, our testimony, even our time, even if it's just a kid thinking that maybe his life IS worth something, if a band like ours is willing to take the time to come up and perform for a bunch of guys like him.
Just wanted to pass that along.

The following article appeared in my church's recent monthly bulletin:
Did you know sharing Christ can be as natural as having coffee at Starbucks? It's true. Just ask members of First Baptist Church's Light Givers Bible Fellowship Group (BFG). Several class members met at the Starbucks off Highway 141 across from The Avenues shopping center on a recent Friday night.
Patrick Lloyd, co-teacher of the Light Givers class and lead singer of One Tree Hill, was at the coffee shop on March 20th doing a Friday night concert. Most of Patrick's BFG was in attendance as well.
While Patrick sang songs about God's redemptive plan for his life, members of the Light Givers BFG mingled with patrons. What a picture of how to share Christ and show God's love.
Patrick says it best: "We're being in the world but not of the world."
A few weeks ago, Patrick and One Tree Hill led a concert for men at No Longer Bound drug rehabilitation center.
"They come in with wide eyes & eager faces, 30 out of the 40 guys there that night, many of whom are not believers, locked in every time I turned their way, hungry for the truth & hanging on every word out of my mouth," Patrick said. "May the light that burst forth into the darkness on that first day tumble forth in every word I speak & sing!"
Please pray for Patrick and One Tree Hill as they share Christ throughout North Georgia.
(NOTE: OTH plays at Starbucks Cumming again on May 15th at 8pm.)
I rarely ask for financial support in OTH newsletters but we just found out today that we have to either replace the engine in Cat's 80,000 mile Camry or replace the car, and this after the dealership had done $1,000 of other maintenance & repairs to the car which, in effect, totaled the car. This, combined with Cat being laid off at the end of last year by Forsyth County due to the recession, brings considerable strain to our family finances. We've enjoyed almost every second of living without credit cards the last 2 1/2 years -- temptation always finds a way in, doesn't it?
In any event, if you have a rebuilt 4-cylinder Camry engine collecting dust, please send it our way!
Prayers are extremely appreciated, too.
